Monday, July 24, 2006 (Day 11):
I spent the day portaging my gear to the edge of the main George River and set my tent up, overlooking the main George River.
The portage route takes you past spectacular views of the arm of the Three Gorges that my canoe almost went down:
Below is this arm discharging into the George River. There are two other arms discharging into it, with the rest of the George River coming from the east. From this point on, the George becomes a big fierce river.
